Discovered Vaping in NZ and Stopped Smoking Instantly – Former Vape Consumer

I am a former smoker. Cigarettes were something I found very difficult to quit, even when I was paying close to $50 a pack. I was offered to purchase illegal cigarettes for half the price through my local shop. This isn’t the way!
Then I discovered vaping whilst on a trip to NZ. I found that I could use these to instantly stop smoking. It was more convenient, cheaper, and now that I have gone through and weaned myself off nicotine, I no longer smoke or vape. I believe the current Australian reforms are ludicrous and a severe overreaction that will be counterproductive.
Vapes and vape accessories should be able to be sold in retail locations much the same way as cigarettes are. Why is a product like cigarettes, known to cause cancer and drive health spending higher, allowed to be purchased at a local supermarket and yet a product that is known to be less harmful, and can contribute to quitting cigarettes, not as readily available? Whose agenda are we fulfilling?
I recommend looking at harm reduction reforms such as NZ. Long term, this is a viable, and a much more sustainable position that will really help Australians with addiction.
