A Senior Lecturer at the University of Wollongong, Dr Jody Moller leads cutting-edge research on the chemical analysis of vaping products in Australia. Together with her research team, Jody has examined over 1200 vaping products, uncovering the secrets they hold. Her research has influenced Federal and NSW state vaping policies, helping to shape a healthier future for all Australians.
Jody earned her PhD in Medicinal and Organic Chemistry in 2003 and, after a brief stint away from research to raise her young children, shifted her focus to chemical toxicology in 2017. Her expertise has been featured by various media outlets, including a BBC documentary on vaping and appearances on ABC News and A Current Affair. Jody is passionate about translating her research into tangible benefits for society and encouraging the next generation of aspiring scientists. Source>>

Senior lecturer at the University of Wollongong Dr Jody Moller – who has researched e-cigarettes and their chemical contents since 2019 – told the committee that current regulations had fuelled the black market.
“In October 2021, following the last major regulatory change, we saw the market shift within two months to remove the word ‘nicotine’ from packaging [of e-cigarettes] to allow [retailers] to sell over the counter through a loophole,” Dr Moller said.
“Our concern is that [the federal government’s proposed regulatory changes] will prompt the market to shift quickly again, to find a way to continue selling.
