Dr Kristen McCarter is a clinical psychologist and lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Newcastle. Kristen’s work is focused on helping improve the lives of those people that live with complex co-occurring problems, like mental ill-health, substance misuse and chronic diseases. Kristen coordinated the NHMRC funded Quitlink multi-site RCT that tested the effectiveness of a tailored quitline intervention for people experiencing severe mental illness.

Co-signee to "Urgent vaping law reform needed in Australia" that endorsed concerns of the 

Australian National Advisory Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ANACAD), that the prescription policy is failing and that the Minister's proposed vaping crackdown will only make things worse.
