Paternalistic Vaping Ban Undermines Retiree Autonomy - Vaping Consumer

I can assure you a total ban approach incorporating legitimate vape shops will only place the youth of Australia at a much greater risk of black market vapes. The same nefarious entities that have been successfully getting around the current legislation, which I hasten to add was brought about by the previous Government’s misguided attempts at a ban, will continue to import totally unregulated vapes with God knows what in them to supply to our kids.

It is not the legitimate bricks & mortar Australian owned & run vape stores that are the issue here. They have all invested heavily in setting up a business to assist lifelong smokers such as myself to rid themselves of tobacco and in my experience would NEVER risk a sale to an under 18 and risk closure of their business.

It is beyond my comprehension how the current Government can arbitrarily decide that forcing people to obtain a prescription for a very limited range of vapes will be successful.

After 3 years at the NSW south coast address my partner & I retired to, we still cannot even find a doctor prepared to add us to their books so how I would be meant to comply is beyond me. We just thank our lucky stars neither of us have actually required a doctor!!

This entire proposal is an ill advised nanny state gone mad. Adult vapers should be able to retain the freedom of choice just like drinkers.

To me personally, & many, many vapers I have come into contact with, the availability of a wide range of flavours was KEY to my success. Nobody trying to get off cigarettes wants to vape tobacco or mint exclusively! That idea is pure out of touch with reality, madness, and only sets the scheme up to fail miserably forcing people back to cigarettes.

Please ensure common sense prevails & freedom of choice remains so over 18’s stuck on the tobacco treadmill are able to make their own informed decisions about vaping and under 18’s can be better protected from black market vapes.
