Ruth Bonita - Emeritus Professor

Ruth Bonita has a BA Dip Ed from the University of NSW (and a MPH from University of NC, as well as a PhD from the University of Auckland). She is now institutionally retired but worked at WHO Geneva as the Director of NCD Surveillance for 7 years, and was instrumental in establishing the WHO STEPwise approach to Risk Factor surveillance (including tobacco use), now operational in over 100 low and middle income counties. Before that she ran a major stroke register at the School of Medicine and collaborated extensively with Australian colleagues at the University of Melbourne.

She is now an Emeritus Professor at the University of Auckland.

Co-signee to "Urgent vaping law reform needed in Australia" that endorsed concerns of the 

Australian National Advisory Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ANACAD), that the prescription policy is failing and that the Minister's proposed vaping crackdown will only make things worse.
